When the demand for sanitizers was exponentially increasing all of a sudden due to the Corona pandemic, with the help of its Xavier Research Foundation under the leadership Fr. Ignacimuthu, St. Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai, innovatively made an effective herbal and organic sanitizer (Xavier Sanitizer-XS சவேரியார் கிருமி விரட்டி) and distributed 300 bottles of it to police personnel and the STAND villages (STAND – Students’ Training and Action for Neighbourhood Development). Also, the college has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a company to mass-produce Xavier Sanitizer and sell it at a nominal cost in Tirunelveli and neighbouring districts. This timely intervention exemplifies ingenuity that is a hallmark of Jesuits.
