COVID-19 isn't gone yet...

but our 244 online initiatives have grown into successful independent projects and so many new have been established following the example. We're unable to track all of them, so we've decided to turn this page into an archive and invite you to check the updated options at the local Jesuits' sites.
Thank you to all of 100.000 users who visited us!

A multi-pronged approach

This initiative comes from JCCU - Conference of Canada and the United States of America
University of Detroit Mercy is taking a multipronged approach to addressing the concerns of the pandemic, designed with spiritual comfort in mind.

  • The Jesuit community has created a social media presence for the purpose of streaming Mass, music, advice, examens, adoration and to collect intentions from members of the Detroit Mercy Community. The Facebook page may be found here https://www.facebook.com/DetroitJesuits/ and the Instagram page is here https://www.instagram.com/detroitjesuits/.
  • Assistant to the President for Mission Integration Catherine Punsalan-Manlimos is organizing a series of videotaped reflections from the campus’ Jesuits and Religious Sisters of Mercy that are emailed to staff and faculty and made available on the University’s alumni blog at sites.udmercy.edu/alumni.
  • The University’s Marketing & Communications Department is telling the story of the pandemic through the eyes of students, alumni, staff and faculty in a series titled Snapshots of a Pandemic. New stories are added daily and are from alumni healthcare workers to professors who are helping their students in unique ways to student service organization leaders who are finding ways to continue their much-needed work in ways that protect everyone’s safety.
  • Many of our students could not go home after the University ended face-to-face classes, others did not have enough money to return to their family, others found themselves in financial difficulties when their employer closed, and still others discovered they didn’t have access to the technology they needed to take online classes. The University created a COVID-19 Student Emergency Fund to address these needs in the short term.
